This page will answer questions commonly asked by students and parents.
If you wish to send in something, please send things like pencils, erasers, bookmarks, etc. The district is requiring us to keep the food to a minimum in classrooms due to many health issues. We have students who are severely allergic to nuts and eggs. Please avoid sending items with these to school. Thanks for your co-operation!
Students will be assigned to a new seating location every month or as needed.
Typically students in the FUSD were tested at 3rd grade.
If your child did not get at 99% on the test, then your child does not qualify for services.
However, if your child was not present that time and/or was tested at another district, please contact John Schroeder at the FUSD Gate office for further questions and clarification.
Each teacher will differentiate in Reading/Language Arts.
Please check out the status and information of GATE at:
Please notify me either by email, calling or after school. I gladly welcome the assistance.
All volunteers need to check in at the office before coming into the classroom.
Accelerated Reader is an online program developed by Renaissance Learning.
It helps teachers monitor comprehension of a student's independent reading choices. The format of testing consists of multiple choice questions.
This is a quick rule of thumb in order to know how many questions might be asked:
5 questions: trade / picture book, some simple chapter books
10 questions: most chapter books
20 questions: chapter books with about 300+ pages
If you would like to learn more about how Accelerated Reader works, please see Renaissance Learning's website:
(This year we are NOT using Accelerated Reader. This posting is left in case anyone has questions about what it is.)
An "AR book" is for the most part any book that Accelerated Reader has a quiz for.
You can find if there is a quiz for book at:
Accelerated Reader (a reading program managed by Renaissance Learning) makes it possible for parents to be notified each time their child takes a test.
This is very beneficial in getting up to the minute not
ifications of your child's results of AR quizzes results.
The website link to the website is:
Once you are in, you want find the "Email setup" info.
Type in all the email addresses you would A
Ask your child to provide you their AR username/login and their password (their first and last initials)
Support your child doing several things:
1) Look at the reasons why your child is getting "strikes" - Is there a pattern? Are the reasons the same or difference each time
2) If it is due to behavior, then please discuss with your child how he/she may rectify the situation.
3) If it is due to homework/classwork being incomplete or missing, please let him or her take the penalty (pink slip) and discuss the situation of how he/she can improve.
4) Because your child is in upper grades, he/she needs to learn how to copy down homework and make sure they have everything they need before they leave the classroom.
If the same problems are happening for your child, then please intervene and I will also check in with your child.
** Fifth and sixth grade teachers do NOT post homework at all. Packets like the ones you see in 2nd and 3rd grade are not given out.
