A little bit about me:
I attained my undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University. Since then I've continued my education... inspired by the great teachers I have had throughout my life. From the influence of these "giants", I have set my personal professional goals to help students not only make significant growth in their learning but to enjoy the journey as well. At the beginning of last year's class I had 9 students who started the year with below level in reading. By the end of the year, all but one rose in their CRT scores (state level testing) to meet grade level but one. This child has special needs, but inspite of those needs he doubled his score! I was so proud of the success of every one of the children in my class. I must give credit to the third grade team and others at L.P.A. that joined me in focusing on specific interventions to help these children.
I have five daughters: three step daughters, two biological daughters and four and a half grandchildren. My oldest, Amanda lives in Las Vegas with her husband and three children. She owns a retail furniture company and has amazing creativity! My second oldest, Marissa lives in Holladay with her husband and their newborn son. She works as an Occupational Therapist helping troubled teens for the state. My third oldest, Jessica lives in Missouri with her husband and is expecting a baby boy in October. The fourth oldest, Katie is a freshman at Brigham Young University, studying Physical Science. She loves to play soccer, sing and piano performance. My caboose, Angela is a junior at Woods Cross High School. She loves math, science, theater, piano and dance. My husband, Kent and I love to support our daughters, sons in law and grandchildren with their extracurricular activities. Kent builds beautiful homes and remodels small to large homes, and businesses. He is chairman of the North Salt Lake Uniting Neighbor's Committee that organizes the city's emergency preparedness, crime watch and neighborhood beautification.
I love to work with children, play the piano, read, go hiking, play soccer with my children, snow ski, boat, sew, and go to church. I'm trying really hard to avoid chocolate. If you feel the urge to send some my way I would prefer fresh fruit, vegetables, diet Dr. Pepper or homemade jewelry (especially made by my students!)
Thank you for the opportunity to teach & care about your child, I feel blessed to be their third grade teacher!
