World Day for Cultural Diversity
for Dialogue and Development 21 May
Diversity makes our class special. We learn about different cultures when we celebrate each other. On May 21st our class will observe this day to honor the world’s different cultures. Students are encouraged to bring something unique to class for show and tell that describes their own culture.
Celebrating diversity gives us the ability to work together, to listen to each other and to respect each others opinion.
The thistle is the Scottish national emblem.
This year I will present a thistle at show and tell for cultural diversity day.
I am Scottish/American and I am proud of my Scottish birth place and roots.
During circle time we will read a book about Robert Burns, the famous Scottish Poet. Rabbie's Rhymes: Robert Burns for Wee Folk by James Robertson.
There will be plenty of opportunities for volunteers to participate in story time. Story time with volunteers will be held every Friday from 11:00 - 12:00pm
Families and members of the community are welcome to come and see what we have been doing on special days.
Our Class News
Stay up to date with the latest happenings in our class by checking our weekly news page.
My nephew’s guinea pig just had babies! Our class will be meeting an additional student very soon, Mac the Guinea pig. He is very friendly, but too small to come to class just yet. Mac will need to be fed and watered daily. He loves to eat carrots, hay and will need to have his cage cleaned at least once a week. I will assign students as weekly helpers to assist with these tasks.
Our class will happily accept donations of hay and bedding.
