Old Abe Forensics

What's Going on in Forensics???

"In teaching others we teach ourselves"  - Proverb

In the Fall of 2017, Kimberly Rice (South Middle School ECASD) and I became the coaches of the Old Abe Forensics Team (Memorial High School ECASD). Our goals for the students on the team are to:

  • Find a way to express their voices
  • Use their voices and gifts to help others find themselves
  • Learn to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Create a positive and safe team atmosphere based on mutual respect and responsibility
  • Create opportunities to meet other students around the state and country

With a team of 21 students, the first year went EXTREMELY WELL! The team placed First in medium size teams at Durand High School and was usually within 0.5 points of placing at approximately 10 tournaments.

At the WHSFA State Tournament, the students received 14 gold medals, 5 silver, and 1 bronze. But more importantly, the students over the course of the year created a family environment in which everyone cared for and supported one another.
