After World War I, a virtual explosion of African American culture expressed through the arts proliferated in the New York City area known as Harlem. This period continued until the mid-1930s and is called the Harlem Renaissance. What impact did the Harlem Renaissance have on the social and political changes that occurred in America during and after this time? In your essay, be sure to include the role of at least one notable musician, writer, or other artist from this era and how his/her work influenced society.
