About Me

Hello students and parents! Just a quick intro about myself, my name is Carly Wood and I am so excited to work with all of you this semester. I'm originally from Lancaster, PA but graduated in 2019 from Pace University in New York with a degree in English and Adolescent Education. At Pace I was a member of the field hockey team and am currently working on starting a field hockey program here at school (if you're interested in joining talk to me!). I know you are all just itching to graduate so my goal is to make this class as fun and useful as it can be so that you can make the most out of your last semester!

Classroom Policies

-I allow a 5 minute grace period after the bell rings

-If you are within the 5 minute grace period please quietly take your seat without disturbing the class

-If you are more than 5 minutes late for class please see me afterwards to discuss why

-If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to get the notes and make up any work

-Any documents handed out or read in class will be posted on this website, please print them out and bring them with you next time you are in class

-You have as many days to hand in homework as you were absent. Ex) absent 2 days= 2 extra days to hand in work

-If you feel behind due to absences please talk to me to set up a time for a one-on-one session to catch up

-Homework turned in by the end of the school day will not be considered late

-Homework turned in one day late will have an automatic 2 points deducted

-Homework will not be accepted any later than 1 day late

-Phones may be on, but it's up to you to not let them be a distraction

-Laptops are okay for note taking, but again, if you distract yourself with it it’s no one’s fault but your own for not understanding the lesson

Class Expectations

1. Be respectful to all classmates

2. Be open to new ideas and opinions

-I am all about debate, but only in productive and positive ways

3. Be responsible

-bring all your items to class, you will not be penalized for forgetting something but it’s up to you to ensure that you are still able to participate in class

4. Ask for help

-I am always willing to make time to meet with you if you need extra help

-It’s better to ask for help before you’re assessed, not after!

5. Voice your concerns

-If you have a problem, be it with a grade or topic of conversation, please bring it to my attention. I want to hear your feedback and work with you through issues
