V.I.P. of the Week

When your child is the V.I.P. of the week, each day will consist of a special way to honor him or her.
Monday: Sharing Sack
The week before a student is the V.I.P., I will send home a sharing sack.  Your child can find 3 special things he or she wants to include in the bag to share with the class on the following Monday.  He should also include 12 pictures that he wants included on the V.I.P. of the Week poster.
Tuesday: Favorite Book
The V.I.P. of the week brings his or her favorite book to share with the class.  She can read it aloud to the class if it can be read in less than 10 minutes, or give a book talk if it is a longer book.
Wednesday: Parent Letter
Parents will write a letter to the class to tell them how special your child is to you.  Please send the letter in a sealed envelope for me to read to the class during the class meeting.  What you include in the letter is completely up to you, but here are a few ideas: Describe a funny or silly story about your child, write a poem (serious or silly), tell us some cool things we might not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character.  You may also send in a video for the class to watch instead of a letter.
Thursday: V.I.P. Lunch Buddy
If possible, join your child for lunch in the cafeteria on this day.  If Thursday of your child's week of recognition does not work for you, please try to come on a different day.  This will become a very special tradition in our classroom.  If you are unable to join your child for lunch during the week, you can send a special relative in your place. Remember to wear your V.I.P. badge that will be sent home with your child on Monday.  Please return it to the classroom after your lunch visit.
Friday: V.I.P. Recognition
Your child will be recognized by his or her classmates and will be presented with a V.I.P. of the Week Certificate.  He or she will also be the newscaster for the week's 4th Grade Weekly newscast.
***The events planned for the week can be swapped in order to accomodate your schedule if you are planning on joining your child for lunch.***
