Welcome to the 8th Grade!


On this page I will post important information for 8th grade. This is going to be a busy year filled with tons of learning, field trips, service opportunities, the high school application process, field day, carnival and finally graduation!


Our first field trip will be to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Friday, September 21st. The cost of the trip is $2.00 for admission. Students may either pack a lunch or bring money to purchase a lunch. We will be walking. We are looking for parent chaperones to accompany us. The cost is also $2.00 per chaperone. If you would like to join us please send me a note or an email by September 14th. 


The 8th graders will be participating in a program called Managing Own Life. This will be an 8 week program and one of the goals of the program is to enhance academic success skills and help prepare the students for life in high school. This program will begin September 13th.


7th and 8th graders will once again participate in the Real World Real Money group sponsored by Unity Catholic Credit Union. This will be a 6 week program teaching the students about fiscal responsibility. The culmination of the program will be the simulation day on October 23rd. We will need some parent volunteers to help out that day. If you are interested please let me know. This program will begin September 18th. 




Magnificat - Shadowing begins September 18 and will run through December 7th. Girls interested in attending Mags next year can shadow on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Only 25 visitors will be allowed per shadow day. If your daughter is interested please visit their website at to sign up. You must register at least three school days in advance. 

On September 22  they are offering a Seeley HSPT test prep class. Fall open house is scheduled for October 7 from 11am - 1:30 pm. There will also be a parent information session that same day, as well as on September 24th, and 27th.  from 11 am - noon. The placement exam is scheduled for October 24 and 27th. Holy Name - Open house is Sunday, October 7th from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. Dates of placement exams are Saturday, October 20th from 9:-00am - 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 3rd from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Wednesday,November 7th grom 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. St. Joseph Academy - Shadowing takes place from September 30 through November 29. The high school test prep class is Saturday, September 29. Fall open house is Sunday, October 21 from 1:00pm - 4:00 pm. Admission/Scholarship testing is Saturday, October 27 and Saturday, November 3.  Admission only (not for scholarship) testing is Saturday, January 5th. As I receive information from the other Catholic High Schools I will post it. 


Saturday, October 6th is the annual PTU Night at the Races fundraiser. If you have not attended this event you are missing out on great fun. This year the PTU has asked each grade to doante a basket for their raffle. The 8th grade students have chosen our basket to have a Cavs/Browns theme. We are asking each 8th grade family to donate an item for our class basket.   We are asking for items to be turned in by Friday, September 21st.
