COVID Classroom & Physical Distancing Guidelines for Summer Camp

 

KEEP CLEANING MATERIALS and HAND SANITIZER HANDY,

AND OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES!!

 

Outside distancing guidelines:

1 child on bridge (if kids want to jump, they can do so on one of the stable platforms)

1 child on slide

1 child in tunnel – children must keep moving through the tunnel

1 child on perceptual motor wall

1 child on horizontal ladder

1 child on curved ladder

1 child on straight ladder

1 child on chain wall

 

1-2 children max on swing or on mat under swing (i.e. 1 pushing) – Children must push themselves on the swing(s).  Adult attention needs to be on all of the children

1 child on each bench of table

3-4 children on/in boat (if the kids want to jump up & down – they can do so inside the boat only)

4 in sandbox (try anyway)

 

Outside reminders:

  • Sand, bark, gravel stays on the ground!  If you see a child flipping sand in the sandbox, give a warning.  If they flip/toss/fling/throw the sand again – they have lost sandbox privileges
  • Bicycles

Reminders- give warning as they get on the bike & if they fail to follow the guidelines, they lose bike privileges:

  • Bike’s w/wagons – rider must have their back against the wooden wagon back – feet & hands inside the wagon at all times
  • Wagons must be on tall tricycles at all times
  • Children riding bikes should be looking forward – not behind them to see who is ‘gaining’ on them. 
  • Stop before you crash!  - this includes crashing into a building or the fence

 

 

Set-up / clean-up

  • Remember that there must be a 6’ safety parameter around each pc of equipment, the tables, the building, the curb, etc.  – this includes any added apparatus (i.e. arch climbers, teeter totters, etc.)

 

 

Inside distancing guidelines:

  • Dramatic play car can hold 2 children max
  • Dramatic play kitchen can hold 2 children max
  • Climbing wall is for 2 children only at a time
  • Block area is for 4 children max – away from block cabinets and spaced apart from each other

 

  • Dramatic play car, refrigerator, sink, etc. Must also be wiped down throughout the day
  • Tables & chair backs and sides must be wiped down throughout the day after use
  • Keep children separated as much as possible – each table can hold 6 children if 1 child sits on each side of where the adult would be seated, and the other 4 children are spaced around the rest of the table – rooms 1,2,3

 

Inside distancing guidelines- rooms 1,2:

 

  • Tables & chair backs and sides must be wiped down throughout the day after use
  • Keep children separated as much as possible – each table can hold 5 children if 1 child sits on each side of where the adult would have been seated, and the other 3 children are spaced around the rest of the table – rooms 1,2,3
  • 2 kids max can be in the science center
  • 2 kids max can be in the upstairs loft cozy area – kids may sit only on top of the cozy cube (standing is not allowed)
  • 3 (preferably), 4 max under loft
  • Manipulative area on carpet – 3 (preferably), 4 max
  • 2 children at a time in cubby area
  • Wipe down name tags after removal
  • Wipe down markers, glue, etc. After each use
  • Co-op kids eat at the table in room 1

 

 

 

Bathroom reminders:

  • Sink, faucet, paper towel dispenser, toilet handle & seat, must be wiped down after each use!!  Keep pink cleaning solution in bathroom – hanging from top of cabinet for easy access, out of reach of children.

 

Sign-in/out pens:

Pens must be wiped down at the end of the day – use Clorox wipes or lay them on a towel & spray both sides with the pink solution – can air dry

 

Outside bathrooms should be wiped down & locked at the end of the day
