I am a Sarasota native and graduated from Sarasota High School. I completed an Associates Degree from Manatee Community College (now State College of Florida-SFC). Immediately afterward, I enrolled in the University of South Florida, where I graduated in 2007 with a degree in Social Sciences Education. I will be finished with my Master's Degree in Literacy in November 2018.
I have five current certifications: Social Sciences Education 6-12, Language Arts 6-12, Elementary Education K-6, Reading, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). I have taught the four core subjects at middle school level, as I previously held a Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum (MGIC) certification. I currently teach at Brookside Middle School in Sarasota, Florida. My current course schedule includes Language Arts through ESOL, Developmental Reading for ESOL students, and Intensive Language Arts.
I have been married since 2007 to my husband Michael. We have three daughters: Evelyn (8), Amelia (5), and Eleanor (6 months). We have two female dogs named Thelma (11) and Autumn (2). We enjoy camping, playing games, and making crafts. We also like mysteries, so we have created our own escape rooms for family and birthday parties.
