Ms. Ethridge's Educator Portfolio

Hi, thanks for taking time to view my portfolio. My name is Elizabeth "Denise" Ethridge.  I grew up in Tifton, Georgia, a small town located three hours south of Atlanta. My daughter (Jozie) and I moved to the Metro Atlanta area in August 2013. We enjoy our small fur baby, a miniature poodle named Disney.

Teaching is not just a career for me; it is a calling that has become a way of life. If I am not at school, you are likely to find me tutoring at the local library or helping a niece or nephew with math homework over FaceTime. My love for learning began at an early age. Although I experienced a few stumbling blocks in middle school, several amazing teachers in high school rekindled my love for learning, math specifically.

While attending Valdosta Technical Institute, I realized my passion for teaching and learning. After completing the Micro-Computer Specialist and Accounting programs, I worked for the City of Tifton Police Department and Finance Department and enrolled in classes at Valdosta State University. In June 2005, I graduated with my Bachelors of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.

In August 2005, my career in education began at Len Lastinger Primary School, the school I first attended (as a Kindergarten student). In June 2006, I received my Masters of Science in Foundations of Education from Troy University. I hope to one day return to graduate school and pursue a degree in Educational Psychology. My true passion lies with students who need extra support and encouragement. I am confident that helping students realize their true potential empowers them to succeed beyond preconceived expectations.
