Its perfectly okay to be experiencing a TON of emotions right now. Some of you are homebodies or prefer online learning and are loving staying home. Others may be experiencing various levels of anxiety and panic. Feeling some level of anxiety is normal right now. You may feel like you don't have control-BUT you do have control over many things right now, such as the following:
- Wash you hands frequently and do NOT touch your face
- Stay socially connected-humans are social beings and thrive on connection. Since we ALL need to practice social distancing we need to connect in ways that are safe. Facetime a friend, Snap chat classmates, text someone you haven't heard from in awhile. If your on social media you are seeing people connecting online in all ways such as dance parties, Netflix parties and live stream concerts.
- Stay active-Fresh air is good for us so go for a walk in your neighborhood.
- Do things that relieve stress for you-Check out apps such as Headspace or Calm. Maybe pull out a board game and spend time with your family!
- Disconnect-After spending the day on the computer doing classwork walk away for a bit-your eyes need a rest.
- If you feel yourself getting caught up in the chaos of all of this, talk to someone you trust. Journaling is also a good way to sort things out in you head.
School at Home Tips:
- Create a daily schedule-you should stick to your normal routine as much as possible. Wake up at the same time that you normally would and save the sleeping in for the weekends. Make sure you do somehting active everyday!
- Get up and move and stretch in between classes for a minute and maybe go outside and get some fresh air.
- Create a workspace-Do NOT make your workspace your bed! It can be a desk, table or a space in your home that is dedicated to your schoolwork and is as distraction-free as possible. Make it comfortable because you will be spending alot of time there.
- Get dressed everyday-Hanging out in your pjs is fun I know but putting on some regular clothes helps us shift into a work midset and be more productive.
