As a school counselor, I help students work through problems on a short-term basis.
Sometimes students come to see me so I can help them resolve a conflict with friends. Other
times, students may come to see me individually to try to figure out better ways to express
their anger appropriately or to talk about something that is bothering them. The purpose of
my job is not to do long term therapy; afterall, students really need to be in their classrooms
as much as possible! Instead, I help students work through “short term” problems that may
be impeding their ability to fully focus on their school work.
