I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from R.L. Paschal High School. I attended York College of Pennsylvania in York, Pa and graduated with a B.A, in History with a minor in Secondary Education. I have a Mater’s Degree in Communication Science/Deaf Education from Texas Women’s University. My first teaching job was in Bay City, Texas, where I taught the middle school and high school Deaf Education Program. I moved back to the Metroplex and taught at the Fort Worth Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. I became very interested in the birth to three year old population of hearing impaired students and became one of the first Parent Advisors in Texas. My parent advisor position was at Five County Co-op RDSPD, serving students in Parker, Somerville, Hood, Erath and Palo Pinto counties. I took a four year break from teaching when my two daughters were pre-school age. I returned to teaching in 1991 at Tremble Tech H.S. here in Ft. Worth. I taught the hearing impaired students all their core academics.I taught one year at T.A.Sims Elementary School, then moved to Kirkpatrick Middle School. In 2000, I started teaching Resource English here at Western Hills High School. I have the best position because here I can teach both hearing and hearing impaired students. This year I support all students who need help in Social Studies and English. I really enjoy helping students discover strategies that enable them to become successful in school.
