ELE RECYCLE PROJECT 2012
On May 19, 2011, April Boggs, 3rd Grade Teacher and E'tienne Easley, Family Partnership Specialist received the Jane Harbaugh Teacher Innovation Grant Award to implement a Recycle Project! The Public Education Foundation awarded East Lake $945.35. With these funds, the 3rd grade team was able to visit a recycle center, learn about nature preservation at Booker T. Washington State Park, and worked with East Lake Recreation Center's recycling specialist to create art projects out of recycled materials and developed a recycle center in the school! So far we have collected over 2,000 pounds of paper in just 2 months! We want to be able to use funds gained from recycling for items we need at the school!
BEFORE SCHOOL ENDS...
The 3rd grade team will build a flower garden in hopes to decorate the front office, the nearby senior citizen center, the neighborhood association and other organizations within the community!
