In our classroom there are only three guiding rules under which all other actions can be categorized. These rules are:
Children learn to respect others, themselves and the classroom materials.
Children learn to be responsible for their actions, their words and their belongings.
Children learn to put their own and other's safety first.
Introduced during the first week of school as a classroom agreement - students brainstorm their own rules and we then categorize and place them under one or more of the above rules, thus making connections and keeping things simple for a classroom environment which is safe, responsible and respectful.
