World History Honors/Gifted

Course Description

World History provides an overview of human history. You will be tracing how different civilizations began and how they developed over time – from the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, to the complex societies of present-day nations around the world. When you have finished this course, you will be able to understand key political, social, and economic events from the past and their connection to the present. This understanding will help you be an informed citizen in your community.

Legal Systems & Concepts and Court Procedures

Course Description

 

The goals of this course focus on developing student’s knowledge and skills necessary to live in our law-saturated society. It provides students with a practical understanding of law, legal systems and improves their understanding of the fundamental principles and values underlying the U.S. Constitution. Students will improve their critical thinking, communication, observation, and problem solving skills through participation in legal research, mock trials, class debates and advocating activities.  This year school year we will participate in-class Mock Trial and Project Citizen.

Comprehensive Law Studies

Course Description

 

The primary focus of this course is on deepening students’ knowledge on the trial process, the psychology of persuasion, trial preparation and strategy.  Students will improve their critical thinking, communication, observation, and problem-solving skills through participation in legal research, mock trials, class debates and advocating activities.  After completing this course students will be better informed to live in our law-saturated society. Students enrolled in this course will have the opportunity to participate in a district sponsored Mock Trial Competition.
