What is digital citizenship?

Technology plays a major role in today's society, therefore it is imperative that one know how to use technology in a responsible way. The term used to describe this is called digital citizenship. Students are expected to understand how to use technology responsibly. Parents are also expected to be aware of how your child is using technology. 

Netiquette is one way to display good digital citizenship. Netiquette is a word created to combine etiquette and internet. It is used to the describe the use of good etiquette when using the internet. Netiquette should be used when using social networking. Good netiquette techniques use would avoid issues such as cyberbullying.

Other ways of describing good digital citizenship is to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined as the use of words or ideas as your own without giving credit to whom the words or ideas originated. There are several different ways to give credit for information. Copy right is when the origniator of an idea or thing has the legal right to do with it as one please. It is illegal to use copy written material without the originator's permission accept if only a small is used.
