About The Teacher

smileyAbout The Teachersmiley

Hi, I am Dolores Garcia. I will be your child’s resource teacher this year. I am so excited to get to know your child as well as your family! I have been a teacher for 20 years. I received a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, from Georgia State University, in 1994. A few years ago I received a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I went on the get a Specialist Degree in Leadership and Administration from Lincoln Memorial. Last, but not least, I am also a certified Special Education teacher.

My Philosophy

My goal as your child’s teacher is to help them work up to their potential as a learner. I will create an environment that will allow each child to succeed. I will also challenge each student to realize that learning never ends and that knowledge is the key to their future.

In order to do that, I must ensure that your child knows that he or she is in a safe learning environment. It is important for me to make sure that each student feels loved, safe, important, and heard in my classroom. They will know that I believe in their ability to be successful learners. I will encourage them to believe in themselves.

Some of the styles of teaching that you will see in my learning environment will consist of direct instruction, small group instruction, guided reading, literature circles, cooperative groups, and independent work.

There are several ways that we can communicate with each other. You can contact me by calling the school and leaving a message (770) 925-2100. You can also send me a note or email me at Dolores_garcia@gwinnett.k12.ga.us. I will respond to you as soon as possible.
