The Chinese were big in capturing the beauty of nature by painting nature scenes on silk, and selling them on the Silk road in China. About 1200 ad, artists started to draw and paint smaller pictures like a bird or a single bamboo leaf. It was simple but very beautiful.
Emperor Hultsung opened up a school for painters and many famous painters came from that school.
Lou Culgung was born in China and became a brush painting artist. He loved the job so much he was asked by the emperor to paint a picture of him for his court.
