Methodology:I will teach this course using a variety of methods, including (but not limited to) the following: differentiation/acceleration, group work/projects, individual projects, lecture, discussion (both whole class and groups), and multimedia presentations.
Course Evaluation: Essays, journals, projects, presentations, tests, quizzes, research papers, and final exams will be used to evaluate student progress.
Make-up Work:Students will be given one day for each excused day of absence to turn in make-up work. It is YOUR responsibility to find out what work you have missed when you are absent!
Late Work:Daily work: daily work will be deducted 10% for each consecutive day it’s late. Major/long-term assignments (research papers, major essays, and such): these assignments will be accepted one day late for 75% credit.
Classroom Management Plan: All students, in order to create and maintain a positive learning environment, are expected to adhere to the following guidelines: 1. Show respect to the teacher, yourself, other students, and all materials at all times.2. Be seated and ready to learn when the bell rings.3. Bring all necessary materials to class every day.4. Stay in your seat, raise your hand, and wait to be called on.5. No food or drink- water bottles are allowed. 6. No individual conversations will be tolerated during lectures, discussions or tests. This is disruptive to the class and will result in detention.
Consequences:Students who choose to engage in inappropriate behavior will face the following consequences:1. Verbal warning2. Conference with teacher AFTER class3. Phone call/ email home4. Office Referral (Note: Any serious infraction will result in an immediate office referral.
