Academic Study Hall Sessions
When an independent activity is assigned within a core subject area, students are given 24 hours in which to complete it and return it. If it is not returned by the end of the following school day, parents will be contacted and an after-school study hall session with available assistance from the teacher, will be arranged. This is to keep students from becoming overwhelmed due to increasing work loads, as well as to ensure academic success, rather than academic failure.
If students need more academic assistance than can be given within a typical school day, or have a particular skill that is extremely difficult for them, free after-school TUTORING will be available, beginning in mid-September. Students will be selected based upon classroom observations, assessment results, and/or parent request.
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays (may change if conflicts with teacher's personal schedule)
Time: 2:15 - 4:15pm
Behavioral detentions (defiance, disrespect, etc.) & academic detentions (refuses to finish work) will be served at times/dates convenient for the parent(s). No detention will be scheduled without first contacting the parent/guardian(s) and discussing the situation during that conversation. Detentions are a team decision made in agreement by the teacher and the parent/guardian(s). It will be scheduled for the day/time that works for the parent/guardian(s). Transportation can be provided, if necessary.
Typical Available Detention Schedule:
