My name is Courtney Groover and this is my seventh year teaching and my fifth year teaching at Ola Elementary School. I am the lead kindergarten teacher in the K/1 Multi-Age Classroom. The lead first grade teacher is Mrs. Lyons, who is my mom. We love teaching together every day! Our paraprofessional is Molly Southerland and she brings lots of experience and excitement to our team!
I am a product of Henry County Schools, as I graduated from Union Grove High School in 2008. I am honored to have the opportunity to teach in the same school district where I flourished and grew as a learner. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Truett-McConnell University, where I played college softball. I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Georgia Southern University, and am currenlty working on my Specialist's Degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of West Georgia. I have enjoyed furthering my education and love to use these experiences to show my students that even grown-ups keep learning!
I am married to Scott, who is a Henry County Firefighter and EMT. We have two children- Sawyer is four years old and Rhett is two years old. We love serving our community through our careers and feel blessed to do so. We attend Glen Haven Baptist Church and enjoy being involved with our church. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and UGA Football- Go Dawgs!
Fun Facts About Mrs. Groover:
I have an identical twin sister who is also a teacher. We used to switch places in kindergarten because our classrooms were connected by a bathroom. She lives and teaches in North Georgia, but we love having regular Skype sessions with each other's classrooms!
I am obsessed with Chick-Fil-A, Diet Coke, and anything with a monogram!
I have been on a Teacher's Edition of the Price Is Right, but I didn't win anything!
