Welcome to another school year! I am excited to get to know each and every one of my students this year. I can tell that this is going to be a great class! Instead of e-mailing a letter home to you each Monday I will just be updating my website for you to check out whenever is convienent for you. This website will allow you to see upcoming events as well as homework that the kids will have each week.
Students will have reading logs that they will have to fill out and return each Friday. In order for your student to receive full points the paper needs to be filled out and signed by the parent or guardian.
Students will have spelling pre-tests each Monday with a final test on Friday. Students will bring home thier words every Monday and they will also be required to do spelling homework each night. The curriculum that we are using for reading will have some tough words, so they will want to make sure to study each night.
I will also be sending home a reading sheet each week that your child will need to read with you each night. Come Friday your child will be given a fluency test on the material that they read at home with you. If you can try to time your child for a minute each night and see if they can go a little bit further with each reading.

Mr. Graham and I will have a mixture of each class. If your student has Mr. Graham for math you can look onto his page and you will be able to see what they are working on for the week. This week my class will be working on lessons.
Lesson 11: SW solve story problems using a three-step process with addition and subtraction
Lesson 12: SW represent three-digit numbers (no zeros) with numeration blocks and word representations and add and subtract three-digit numbers without regrouping.

SW: place in order four numbers less than 100 from least to greatest

Lesson 15: SW evaluate story problems to determine if there is enough information to answer a question
We will be trying to finish up our STAR Math and STAR Reading tests this week. We are hoping to be done by Wednesday afternoon. We will return to Socail Studies and Science next week.
