Hello! My name is Hollie Gebhardt and this will be my thirteenth year
teaching at Black Hawk. Before coming to Black Hawk, I taught for 9 years
in LaHarpe, Illinois. I have three children, Tanner, Trenton, and Tyler.
Tanner is a freshman at Iowa State University majoring in Animal Ecology, Trenton is a
sophomore at Burlington High School, and Tyler is ten years old and attends fifth grade at Black Hawk.
My husband's name is Mike. We have been married for 20 years.
I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at Western
Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois and I completed my master's degree
in reading and literacy through Walden University. It was a wonderful
experience and I learned a lot through the program. I currently teach an
on-line graduate class through Upper Iowa University entitled Daily 5 and
Café to help other educators learn more about these two wonderful things
and I also write for the Daily Café website.
I love the beach and HOT weather!! I dream of it during those cold
winter months and discuss it with students often. This summer, my husband
and I vacationed on Captiva Island off the coast of Florida. Tyler and I went on small trips to
Wisconsin and St. Louis while my older boys were busy working and participating in sporting events.
I am looking forward to getting to know each one of my students this
year. I know we will be learning a lot and having fun along the way!

My Mission

My mission is for my students to become lifelong learners. In order to
accomplish this goal we will be learning a lot throughout the year and
having a lot of fun along the way. As your child's teacher, I want to give
my students the knowledge of our 3rd grade curriculum, but also the skills
they need in order continue learning throughout their lives.
