Grade 1, Ms. Profit's home room - We are reviewing sentences and sentence structure. I have begun teaching students to collect information on a web and to organize it for paragraph development. I am spending a lot of time on phonics for spelling and then talking about dictionary spellings for words. At this time, we spell the best we can using phonemic awareness and phonics connections.
Kindergarten: Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Rife's rooms
Up until now, these classes have heard a children's picture book and we have written several lovely little class books to establish in the student's minds that they are authors.
The first nine weeks I will reinforce letter formation and handwriting with Mrs. Rife. If she is on letter M, I am re-teaching letter M. I am also reinforcing the sound with phonemic awareness activities.
