Evidence of Assessing for Effective Learning

Evidence of Assessing for Effective Learning

This assessment task was designed to assess learning in the unit of work 'It's Time to Change.' The task involved students creating an information poster using Kidspiration software to communicate information about a change (in an effective manner) to students their age. The task reflects my belief that assessment should be meaningful and enjoyable. Students were provided with assessment crtiteria indicating exactly what was required to complete the assessment, and what was required to complete the assessment well. An A-E marking rubric was also developed to grade student responses.

Assessment: Creating an Information Poster

You are to create a poster using the Kidspiration software on the computer. The poster is for people your age informing them on how to manage a particular change.

Your poster must include the following:

  • Identify the change.
  • Identify who is affected by this change.
  • Provide some brief information regarding the change.
  • Provide an explanation of at least one strategy for managing the change.
  • Identify people who can assist the individual in dealing with this change.

Good posters will:

  • Include ALL of the above!
  • Use language which appeals to the audience.
  • Use pictures or other graphics to inform and create interest.
  • Include new or interesting information.
  • Inform the reader about the change and how to manage the change.

This poster will be used to give you a mark for this unit of work.
