All students will be required to participate in the I-Ready Diagnostic Test which is given 3 times during the school year to determine your child's individual performance level. Based on the test results lessons will be created for your child to complete on line both in class as time permits and as part of home learning.
All students will be required to complete a total of 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of math using the I-Ready on line program during the week. We assign reading assignments 2 times per week for 15 min. each, and math 2 times a week for 15 min. as well.
The only students not required to complete the I-Ready Reading assignments are EL level 1 students ONLY. These students will have to complete the Imagine Learning on line program for 20 minutes instead. EL level 1 students must also complete the I-Ready math program.
As of now I do not know who my EL level 1 students are, once ESOL testing is complete I will notify those parents and students.
Remember that home learning is assigned on Mondays (unless otherwise noted) thru Thursday. Students can use Friday, Sat. and Sun. to catch up on any assignments they were not able to complete on the day it was assigned due to extracurricular activities (dance, karate, baseball, etc.) This is why there is no excuse for home learning packets not to be turned in on time and fully completed.
Parents you are to review the packet and sign your name on Thursday evening or before returning completed packets on the day they are due. This lets me know that you have verified that all pages are completed and packets are ready to be turned in.
Home learning is not graded, I check for completion. Students get credit for turning in packets on time and completed.
I also check that the I-Ready log on the back of the home learning cover sheet is completed with the information requested (lesson & percentage) for each day math and reading assignments are assigned in order to get credit for completion. If the log on the back of the cover sheet is not filled out, home learning is considered INCOMPLETE.
