Well to start out, let me tell you about my journey to becoming a professional educator. I have always had a love of learning, ever since I was a young student I have tried to learn and know as much information as I could. I loved to find out new things, learn about how things work and why things were the way they were. In addition to learning new things, I loved to pass on my newfound knowledge on to anyone I could find, especially my little sister who became my designated "student."
This love of learning and passing on knowledge to others carried with me all the way through my high school and college careers.
I attended college at UW Superior where I received my bachelor's degree and teaching licensure in Broadfield Science and Chemistry. Even though I am certified to teach in the sciences, I feel it is my duty to teach students any knowledge I can give them. This includes material from other content areas as well as life skills.
One of my passions is reading and I love to share that passion with my students. Some of my favorite books were suggestions I received from my students! (Twilight series, need I say more!) On a more serious note, I do feel all students should be literate, and when teaching science, literacy in science goes a long way to understanding the content.
In my free time I love to spend time with my son and my husband (and my soon to be daughter). I enjoy playing sports, especially softball, volleyball, and basketball. I like to watch movies and hang out with my friends and family whenever I get the chance. I am always open to trying new things so if you have a fun activity don't keep it to yourself!
