As you're driving or doing things at home play a game that will help your child with phonemic awareness. Say a word and have your child tell you other words that begin with the same sound. You might also ask your child to tell you what letter or letters make that sound. Don't forget to use words that begin with consonant digraphs (ch, sh, th, wh, and qu) and words that begin with a blended sound like bl, sk, tr. When this becomes easy for your child change it to finding words that end the same. For example, back and neck end the same.
