My name is Jacqueline Nelson, I am thrilled to be teaching this group of students this year. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. I found my love for teaching when I was an Educational Assistant on the Reservations of New Mexico. I worked with students that were diagnosed with Autism and found my true desire in life. I pursued my career in education by graduating from Grand Canyon Univierstiy with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Ed. I have always had a desire to teach, when I was 18 I started working with people with special needs at the Utah State Developmental Center where I taught them how to be independent in everyday living skills. I continued my career there for 21 years until I moved to Farmington, New Mexico where I began teaching children. I say I began teaching children, but I believe the students are the true teachers in the classroom.
My philosophy in teaching is that all students are teachable, and all students deserve an opportunity to have an education. I beleive in all students knowing they are safe in my classroom, and have a fair opportunity to express themselves. My biggest philosophy is that learning never ends, we have numerous opportunities to learn something new each and every day.
