Letters to Parents

November 12, 2012

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

My name is Julie Dominguez and I am excited to have the opportunity to be the new Reading teacher at Yarbro Elementary School. It is my pleasure to be allowed the opportunity to work with your child and help them to succeed in Reading!

Allow me to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Roswell, NM, was married in July of 2004, and have had two beautiful sons of my own. I graduated in May of 2007 with my Bachelors in Elementary Education, and later completed my alternative licensure in Special Education. Finally, I completed my Masters degree in 2012 with an emphasis in Reading. I have two and a half years experience in teaching students, and am looking forward to bringing that experience to Yarbro.

My classroom will focus on intervening where students need extra help, and will integrate reading practice, vocabulary, writing, and individualized instruction in order to help students gain the necessary skills to demonstrate reading proficiency. I will spend thirty minutes per day with each student in order to help them reach grade level criteria.

I have created a classroom website to provide resources, activities, and reading material for you and your child. You may visit this website at any time to keep up to date on our progress, or you may contact me directly by email, phone, or in person. I will be updating the site periodically with updates and information about our classroom and progress. The website is: http://juliedominguez101.educatorpages.com

It is my pleasure to be working with your child this year and I look forward to working with each family and individual child toward success!

Sincerely,

Julie Dominguez

Dear Parent or Guardian,

It is my goal to teach your child how to read more fluently, and also to motivate them to be self-directed and independent in choosing for themselves to put forth effort and practice reading on their own for improvement.

For this reason, we will have a whole group celebration at the end of the year to celebrate all students who improve in Reading throughout the remainder of this school year. A note will be sent home in the spring with more information about the time, place, and specific details.

In addition to the whole group celebration, I will be rewarding the one most improved student with a tablet e-reader computer for growing the most in the area of reading. It is my hope that this incentive will push all of my students to choose to improve themselves as much as possible this year in their reading ability.

I appreciate your dedication to your child’s learning, and am thankful for the opportunity to make a difference at our school. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Julie Dominguez
