For Parents

“Wolves are an extremely social animal.  They exist
as a social unit called a pack.”
Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

6th, 7th, and 8th grade intensive math meets every day, all year.

Please make sure your child has a pencil and paper every day. In addition, he or she should have a ballpoint pen, a dry-erase marker, and an excellent attitude.  Although we do not have formal assessments in this class, your child will receive a grade based on participation, timeliness, and working with others. Our focus in this class is to score well on the FCAT, but our priority is to grow and develop as mathematicians. Everyone of us can “do” math.  My goal is for your child to discover an enjoyment and aptitude for math and critical thinking.

Your child may bring a non-sugary, non-gooey snack and water bottle with a lid for consuming during class. However, if the classroom becomes messy or the food and water is a distraction, that privilege will end.  In addition, gum-chewing may be allowed in the future, if the whole class earns it as a privilege.
