Developing as a Professional Educator

My goal at the beginning of this program was to collaborate more with my coworkers.  I have built very strong relationships with my fellow teachers and we rely on one another to provide the best learning experience possible for our students.

I do well with buiding relationships with the students and the parents at my school.  I make myself available for conferencing and tutoring whenever possible.

I try and design various activities to engage all of my students.

I believe there is always room for improvement in any field, but especially when teaching.

I intend to continue to pursue professional development beyond induction.  I am paricipating in the math grant program in the fall.  After I have completed that class, I intend to pursue both GATE and STEAM certifications.

Teaching is an ever-evolving profession, and as educators, we have to be willing to evolve along with it.

In order to remain energized and passionate about my students, teaching, and learning, I will do my best to build relationships at school, and not neglect my relationships at home.

My advice to new teachers is to ignore the negative banter.  Sure, our profession can come with frustrations, but you chose this path for a reason. Stay in touch with what that reason was.  You matter.  You are making a difference!!
