Getting to know Mrs. Thomas

Hello first graders and parents!  I am so excited to have you in my class!  I know we will have an excellent year!  I love teaching and getting to know each and every one of my students!

This is my second year at Hillcrest Elementary and I absolutely love it here!  

I served in the Army for 3 years and deployed to Iraq in support of OIF.  After the military I chose to continue my education and have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Columbia College of Missouri and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Southern California {Go Trojans!}.

I am married and we have five children between us {we are a blended family}.  They are currently in 11th, 10th, two of them are in 9th {no, they are not twins } and 6th grades.  My husband is in the Army and has served for fifteen years and is currently a 1SG on Fort Rucker.

Hometown - I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas.

Favorite Color - Orange

Music - I like all kinds of music!  Seriously!  Everything!  I especially love Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavaroti, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, George Straight, BB King, Michael Jackson, Etta James, The Temptations, Louis Armstrong,  Marvin Gaye, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Nicole C. Mullen, Francesca Battistelli, Maxwell, Sam Smith, John Legend....I could go on! 

College Teams - USC Trojans!  Fight On! {During basketball season I do root for my hometown teams KU Jayhawks and WSU Shockers!}

Football - Oakland Raiders

Baseball - San Francisco Giants!!!

Holiday - Halloween!  Pumpkins, ghosts, bats - I love it!  Seriously, I love the month of October and everything about it!

Cartoon - ANYTHING / ANYONE DISNEY!  My favorite is the Evil Queen {Snow White's Step Mom}.

Hobbies - I enjoy lifting weights, puzzles, playing the piano, decorating cakes, traveling, going to amusement parks and spending time with my family.
