All about me!
I was born in Minnesota on January 8, 1981. I grew up in a suburb of the Twin Cities with 2 older sisters, a dog, and a hamster. My family moved to a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio when I was ten and I finished my schooling there. I graduated from North Olmsted High School with honors in 1999 and went to college at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan. Here I studied elementary education for two years and then I transfered to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. I studied Audio Production for one year before deciding that teaching was my true calling. I then changed my major to Middle Childhood education with a minor in English and Social Studies. I graduated from college in the winter of 2004 and took a year off to save some money and work. I moved to Columbus in 2005 and met my finance in the fall of 2005. We decided that we were tired of the weather in Ohio and so wherever I got a job first is where we would move. I attended a job fair in Kissimmee during the Spring of 2006 and my first interview landed me a job at Horizon Middle School teaching 8th grade Social Studies. We moved to the Poinciana area in the summer of 2006. I began teaching that fall and continued at Horizon for another year after. I then decided that English was my passion and I took an interview at Liberty High School in the spring of 2008. I received an English I position. This is my second year at Liberty, and my fourth year teaching. I am a Charger at heart and LOVE what I do! I was approached by Mrs. Williams at the end of the 2008 school year and asked if I would be interested in being a part of the AVID program. I immediately accepted! I whole heartedly support the AVID intitative as I stronly believe that every single child has the potential to achieve a dream. If that dream is college, AVID is here to help!
Outside of teaching:
I have 6 "kids." They all have 4 legs, but they are my babies! I have a 15 year old German Shepherd/Lab mix named Charlie, a 3 year old Bulldog named Scraps, a 5 year old cat named Lulu, a 3 year old cat named Winston, an 8 year old map turtle named Scuba Steve, and a 4 year old Russian Tortoise named Svetlana. I am an animal freak!
I coach the Liberty High School girls soccer team and love it! I have played soccer since I was about 5 and even continue to play on occasional pick-up teams around the area when I can.
I am also in the process of planning a wedding which is very exciting! I was engaged this summer and will be getting married in Marathon Key in October of 2010!
My family resides all over the US and I do my best to see them as much as possible. My mom lives in Minnesota, one of my sisters and my 2 nieces live in Madison, Wisconsin, my other sister, brother-in-law, and nephew live in Phoenix, Arizona and my dad also lives in Phoenix.
I am an avid sports fan and root for the Ohio University Bobcats, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and all Cleveland sports. Cleveland? Yes....Cleveland. Once a fan, always a fan!
