P.E. Scope and Sequence

PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM SCOPE AND SEQUENCE

 

Pre-School

Movement skills taught in pre-school include the following:

Locomotor skills which include walking, running, marching, hopping, skipping, galloping, sliding, chasing, fleeing and dodging.

Non-locomotor skills which include turning, twisting, rolling, balancing, transferring weight, jumping and landing, stretching, and curling.

Manipulative skills which include throwing, catching and collecting, kicking, punting, dribbling, volleying, striking with rackets and striking with long -handled instruments.

Pre-school students also play simple group games that encourage fair play, cooperation and good sportsmanship.

 

Kindergarten - Fifth Grade

The Trinity physical education curriculum for each grade follows the guidelines set forth by the State of Louisiana Department of Education.

Kindergarten/First Grade:

Creative rhythmic activities, movement activities, physical/motor fitness, health education,

Second Grade:

Creative rhythmic activities, movement activities, physical/motor fitness,  health education

Third Grade:

Creative rhythmic activities, movement activities, physical/motor fitness, health education

Fourth Grade:

 Creative rhythmic activities, physical/motor fitness, team sports, health education

Fifth Grade:

Creative rhythmic activities, physical/motor fitness, team  sports, health education

 

* As part of the fitness program, students in first through fifth grade participate in the President's Physical Fitness Challenge.
