Mrs. Speakman's 5th Grade Class

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church & School
Connected in Christ

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and discuss my mission as the teacher of your child. My name is Mrs. Kellee Speakman. I have a Bachelor degree from California State University, Los Angeles in Liberal Arts and a Masters Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University.  Before joining the Good Shepherd family, I  taught 4th/5th & 6th grades at First Lutheran School in Temple City, California. I am married and have an amazing 16-year-old son and a delightful 10-year-old daughter. It is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher and I am looking forward to an excellent school year!

Mission Statement

I believe all students hold within themselves special God-given talents and skills they will utilize in the future. It is my mission to teach my students to believe in themselves so these gifts may develop. When a student has positive beliefs about themselves, they can accomplish many things and overcome obstacles they encounter--not only in school, but throughout their lives. I believe the key to a successful academic program lies in open communication with students and parents. I will provide specific feedback each day to my students to encourage the use of their strengths and to help them improve the areas in which they struggle. When students know what is expected of them, they can actively participate in monitoring their own learning. When parents know what is expected of their student, they can actively support both the student and the teacher. My mission is to teach my students to take responsibility for their academics and behavior. I will teach them to take an active approach in their learning while helping them to develop self-awareness and build self-esteem.
