About Me

I am looking forward to my second year at Southport Christian School.  After teaching students with special needs for over 30 years, I retired from public school education.  However, the Lord made it clear that He still had plans for me to use the abilities and experiences He has given me.  When Mrs. Kjome spoke to me about teaching at SCS, I was thrilled to have the opportunity.

Teaching Language Arts and Socials Studies to Middle School students is a true joy.  I love this age group and reading and writing are two of my favorite past-times.  My undergraduate is from Wake Forest in Sociology and I have numerous graduate courses in that field.  So, teaching Social Studies is a great fit for me.  I have a Master's in Special Education from UNC-Chapel Hill.

I have two wonderful daughters.  One is a middle school Social Studies and Math teacher in Charlotte.  The other lives in Leland, teaches preschool, and most importantly, is the mother to my 2 adorable grandsons.  My parents (90+ years old) and I live together in Southport.

My life verse is Jeremiah 29:11.  Throughout my life, the Lord has been faithful to guide me through many changes and challenges.  My desire is to serve Him and bring glory and honor to His wonderful name. I am blessed to be a part of the wonderful staff at Southport Christian School.
