Limit, derivative, definite integral and indefinite integral are the four major concepts that are emphasized in this first course in calculus. Students will obtain this knowledge numerically, graphically, analytically and verbally. Students will work individually on tasks and then in cooperative learning groups for other tasks. For several years I have found that in the cooperative learning groups, a student can easily move from “Questioner” to “Leader” depending upon the skills gained from the work. During the first semester, I select the cooperative learning groups; students select their own cooperative learning groups for the second semester.
