Welcome to the MCS 7th & 8th Grade Spanish Webpage
For the month of December both 7th and 8th grade will be learning about Our Lady of Guadualupe as well as preparing for Christmas. They will be learning various traditions within the hispanic community among them Las Posadas.
We are very fortunate that a local church Immaculate Heart of Mary has a large group of Hispanic Parionishers. Our students have been invited to attend mass on 12/9/2012 (Sunday) at 1pm which is a Spanish Mass, and on 12/12/12 (Wednesday) at 7pm which is a bilingual Mass. Fr. Dave Wells will be the officient. After the mass on 12/12/12 there will be a short procession, and then a fiesta (celebration) which the students are welcome and enouraged to attend. This would be an amazing opportunity to get a glimpse into the Hispanic culture and the very important role the Church plays in their lives. For all students who attend either mass they will receive an extra credit grade. If they attend both masses they will get 2 extra credit grades. The students must arrive before mass starts and see me. I will be staying for the entire mass.
The reason for the celebration is 12/9/12 is the feast day of Juan Diego, and 12/12/12 is the feast day of Our Lady of Guadualupe.
