Welcome to my Sparta Meadowview Business Education Website. My name is Mrs. Byrns. This is my second year at Meadowiew. I teach 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Keyboarding, 8th grade Business Exploration and Computer Applications. I also serve as the FBLA advisor.
I didn’t start out as a business education teacher. I actually graduated from UW-Stout with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. I have worked in a personnel department hiring drivers for a trucking company, an accounting department for a large bridge contractor, as an employment and training coordinator for a non-profit, and as a campus assistant at a technical college. I have returned to school several times. The first time to pursue a Management Information System Degree from UW-Eau Claire. I completed all but one class because I swtiched jobs and my schedule didn't allow me to finish. I have taken business education methods classes at Winona State University and lastly obtained my teaching licensure from Norda, Inc., an atlernative teacher certification program. I have always worked full-time while going to school and even when I student taught. It was grueling, but I did it!!!
As you can see, I have had a variety of jobs and am committed to life-lone learning. I added to my repertoire of skills at every job and value my classroom experiences. I have had to opportunity to use my skills to implement many technology related process improvement initiatives for businesses and have built databases for several employers.
I live about half way between Black River Falls and Hixton, Wisconsin (in the country). My family consists of Mark, my husband. He is a safety coordinator for a trucking company. Jenny, my daughter graduated from Winona State and works for UW-Madison. She recently got married. Ray, my son is a senior at UW-Superior. He is studying wellness and fitness management. Coco, our chocolate lab is the final member of our family.
My family has always been very active in sports. I participated in several sports in high school and played volleyball in college. Mark and I played volleyball for many years in recreation leagues including one in Sparta. I have about 25 years of coaching experience at all levels of volleyball (Junior Olympic, freshman, JV, and Varsity). Jenny played volleyball in high school and was on the Winona State team for one season. Ray loves basketball. He played in high school and recently completed his collegiate career at UW-Superior. Mark and I also like to hike, fish, bike, garden, and enjoy camping. My goal is to help students improve their keyboarding proficiency and for them to learn valuable 21st Century Skills.
