While participating in this project, you have gained a better understanding of the definition and workings of civil disobedience in the United States and abroad. Civil disobedience through nonviolent protests, powerful speeches, boycotts, and literary works, can serve as a powerful and influential means of expressing discontent and an effective motivator towards change. Although not applicable or successful in all situations, the principles of civil disobedience have helped individuals everywhere find a voice and a means to inspire change.

I hope that this project has demonstrated how you, too, can find your voice and take a stand on issues that are important to you, just like the individuals behind the movements you have explored. If the individuals behind those movements had not first taken a stand, and exercised their right of civil disobedience, the great changes they helped to effect might never have taken place. You have the right to voice your concerns and desire for change. Stand up. Be heard. Make a difference.
