Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.  It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in each of these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites the sharing of ideas with one another.

I believe that each and every child brings something unique and special to the world.  I will help children develop to their full potential by believing in each and every one of them as capable individuals.  I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning fun and relevant to life.  I believe that students who are actively involved with a lesson learn more and better retain the information.  Learning occurs when a student is fully engaged in the process, making a personal connection with the material being taught and applying the knowledge to a variety of experiences.

Teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth.  One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my passion of learning with them.  I hope to provide the skills and tools necessary for success to encourage the individual gifts of each student, giving them the confidence to embrace their dreams and make them a reality.  I look forward to building meaningful relationships with my students and I am willing and determined to go "the extra mile" for the success of my students.  In this profession, I feel that there is a need for strong, compassionate, and dedicated individuals who truly enjoy and are excited about working with children.  I am such a person and I will always strive to be the best educator I can be.
