6th Grade Color Theory Unit

Objective: 

Welcome to Miss Burke's little lesson on Colors.This 6th grade lesson on color theory will review the basics of the color wheel (primary,secondary, tertiary, warm, and cool) and will introduce some of the most common color schemes. By the end of this lesson the student should be able to identify and define all the parts to the basic color wheel and to identify and define some of the most common color schemes. The student will learn by reading through various web sites and watching videos over the topic.  You will need to take notes as you complete the activities. The notes can be used on your test and can be used to help you with your final project.

Learning Materials:

Pick up a copy from the art cart or download and print your own.

Put both of these items in the brads of your folder

    • Rules of the game:
      • color neatly
      • make sure the colors are in the correct order
      • make sure your FULL heading is on the paper
      • Put your finished color wheel in the brads of your folder

    • You will use your knowledge of the color wheel to create a creative work of art.  
    • If you need ideas you can click the link to go to a google search for "creative color wheel."  At first glance the search came up clean, but in the off chance that something shows up that should not be there, please, remember your ART AGREEMENT.  CREATIVE COLOR WHEEL IDEAS
