About the "Art" teacher...

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

THAT ALL CHILDREN IN A CLASSROOM ARE CAPABLE OF LEARNING. HOWEVER, EACH CHILD IN A GIVEN CLASS IS UNIQUE IN TERMS OF BACKGROUND, BELIEFS, AND EXPERIENCE, AND THEREFORE ALL CHILDREN DO NOT LEARN BEST IN THE SAME WAY. ASSESSMENT IS TO BE USED THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE YEAR SO THAT EACH OF THE MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES IS TOUCHED ON TO PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS TO SUCCEED. ART TEACHERS TEACH THEIR STUDENTS THE BEST BY DOING AND INCLUDING OTHERS IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS.THE ROLE OF A TEACHER IS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE TO ITS STUDENTS AND TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO SHARE THEIR OWN IDEAS AS WELL AS THE IDEAS OF THEIR PEERS. ALL LEARNING WILL TAKE PLACE IN A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT THAT IS FOCUSED UPON RESPECT AS WELL AS CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS FEEL SAFE TO TAKE RISKS, COOPERATE WITH ONE ANOTHER WHILE WILLINGLY BEING ABLE TO SHARE IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS. THE TEACHER WILL WELCOME PARENT AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS INTO THEIR CLASSROOMS SO THAT THERE IS A LINE OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SCHOOL AND HOME. WHEN THE TEACHER ACTS IN THIS MANNER IT LETS THE STUDENT KNOW THAT THEIR TEACHER APPRECIATES THEM BOTH AS A STUDENT AND AS AN INDIVIDUAL PERSON.
