English 6H
Mr. Knapp
Welcome
Welcome to 6H English at SHSID! The following course syllabus is designed to help you participate more successfully in class and to ensure that we have a great semester. Please read it carefully and store it in a folder.
Course Overview
We will spend a significant amount of time in this class learning how to successfully read, write, and speak. We will be using a multitude of source materials – textbooks, workbooks, and novels, in order to draw from many different sources. We will be focusing heavily on grammar and vocabulary, with an added emphasis on both scholastic and creative writing.
Course Expectations
This year we will do book reports, group projects, write stories, essays, narratives, etc, and take weekly quizzes. We will read at least two books each semester, and will also have homework almost every night. Homework is expected to be handed in on time – I will not accept late work without a valid excuse.
