The Exhibition Online is a good way to learn about ancient China using primary and secondary source materials with explanations.  Click on “Explore the Exhibition” and begin to explore the Chicago Field Museum’s exhibition without the hassle of battling Chicago traffic or rabid Chicago Cubs fans.

 

There are several division, each subdivided into sections. Some of the activities are to look at the pictures and read the text. Other activities are videos or interactive. It may take an hour to get through the entire exhibit.

Gallery 5 does not pertain to the studies of the textbook chapter Eight.

 

Write a short paper summarizing the information examined. A shared word processed document, which will be examined for plagiarism, is required. The summary may be one paragraph of a minimum of eight sentences, or more paragraphs with a minimum of four sentences per paragraph.

 

 

Option B: Create a Chinese ossuary.

 

Option C: Write a short report about one of the following topics:

a) Shang Dynasty

b) Zhou Dynasty

c) Confucianism

d) Daoism

e) Chinese writing

 

The paper is a minimum of eight sentences of original student work. One (or more) Internet source beyond Wikipedia, and the textbook, are to be used and cited at the end of the research paragraph. (A shared word processed document, which will be examined for plagiarism, is required.) Include at least one graphic (photograph, diagram, timeline, etc.) that further explains the topic.

 

Both and electronic copy (it may be a shared document) and a printed copy are required. The electronic copy will be submitted into a plagiarism editor.

 

Either report (Option A or Option C) will be graded according the rubric. This is a test grade.
