Every night your child should read for at least 20 minutes.  Please fill out the reading log each night to record what your child has been reading at home.

Also, please review HFW with your child every day.  These words will be tested every Friday.

Spelling homework is due daily.  It is important that spelling homework is done each night so that your child is fully prepared to take the spelling test on Friday.  As you work with your child at home to learn the spelling words, please help them learn to sound out the words and not just memorize the order of the letters.  Being able to sound out a word to spell it is a valuable skill that all children must learn in order to read and write well.

Homework Packet

The homework packet is due every Monday.  There are suggestions on how many pages to complete daily on the weekly newsletter in your child's binder.  Please do not do all the homework at once.  It is better to do a few pages daily so that your child does not skip ahead and complete pages on topics that will be covered later in the week.
