 Here are some web sites that I have used or teachers will use in the classroom to reinforce reading and reading skills.

For early learners: PBS Kids

For K - 2 An award-winning FREE interactive digital storybook destination. Classic children’s stories brought to life by TV star Kathy Kinney as Mrs. P. ABCya! Room Recess Kids love to play these games because they are linked to many familiar shows on TV.  They also seem to be educationally sound. The skills reinforced include: vowel sounds, synonyms, word relationships, and the alphabet. There are also stories, video clips, and audio downloads. K-4 Primarily for first graders or Kindergarteners learning to read, but has many activities that older kids can enjoy also. Offers several interactive games that range from learning the ABC’s to plays and comics for independent readers. K-2 A very high quality website. The games are graphics are as good as many of the recent software games available. Due to the quality of these games, a high-speed Internet connection is required. The skills available on this site include syllables, blending, rhyming, segmenting, and deleting/substituting. K-2 Storybirds are short, art-inspired stories you make to share, read, and print.Read them like books, play them like games, and send them like greeting cards. They’re curiously fun. author’s home page includes many activities related to reading, writing, and art. Very artistic. K-3 Here you can find great online interactive games and activities along with printable activities for further reinforcement. Tumble Books

Elementary, Middle, and High School Vocabulary, Spelling, Writing, Parts of Speech, Handwriting, Alphabetical Order The site that is swimming with learning fun! PreK-6. activities related to holidays and learning in general.  Many craft ideas also included. K-5 This site has links to various literacy activities. Many familiar books and characters engage learners. K-5 The Screen Actors Guild on-line streaming with famous actors reading children’s books aloud with accompanying activities. K-6  Activities, worksheets, games, quizzes, puzzles related to reading, math, geography. PreK – 6. Games that kids like to play. Older kids: Virtual Middle School Library open 24 hours a day. a cool, comic-creating tool from Jambav, a fun site for kids. Jambav is devoted to creating a unique array of free and customizable online games of educational value for children of all abilities. Oxford Owl
